Gavin is as nervous as Asriel. Perhaps more nervous. He doesn't have the benefit of relation to any higher-ups in the organization. He's on his own, except perhaps for his mentor, which was hardly a comfort most days.

This felt like being thrown into the fire when he'd barely grown accustomed to the heat of the frying pan. Was it a test?

"Oh, I, uh, don't outrank you or anything," he assures Asriel. He's not really surprised the other wasn't told. It felt like no one communicated with each other in the ways they should. "Just Merlino is fine."

He can see the resemblance to Raziel Beckett in looks, but their demeanor appears to be entirely different.

"They tell you much about the mission?"

The mistake caused Asriel's cheeks to turn red. He ducks his head, hoping that his embarrassment went unnoticed by Gavin. "Right" He responds a stiff cough following his words. It was a bit strange for Asriel not not address others formally, it's what he was taught but it was comforting at the same time.

"Not the full details, but I heard it was going to be a heist." He responds clearly, wondering if Merlino knew more or if both of them were left in the dark.

"Do you have any more details?"

"Yeah, I suppose it is," he agrees. "It's not on a bank or anything, though. We're supposed to intercept a shipment of Pokemon meant for the Safari Zone."

That's why, unbeknownst to Gavin himself, Asriel had also heard that the mission might involve trafficking. That was the eventual destination of their cargo, but their main job was to run the truck off the road and incapacitate the drivers before taking inventory. He suspects someone more high-profile and trusted will take over, after that, and sell them off on the Black Market to fund the war.

"What Pokémon have you got?" Gavin taps two pokeballs at his side. "I've got my Lucario and a Zubat."

The Zubat was a fairly new addition to his team, meant to counteract his previous weakness of a Pokémon that couldn't fly. Plus, they were common as dirt and so no one was too worried about an incompetent grunt getting it killed.
